SSI Schaefer has again awarded scholarships for local students to pursue their tertiary education in public universities in Malaysia. The two deserving recipients of the scholarships are Ahmad Faaris Bin Mohd. Khair, who is pursuing a Mechanical Engineering Degree at University Teknologi MARA and Tee Chin Wee, a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate of University Teknologi Melaka Malaysia. Both express gratitude and delight in winning the awards.
A simple award ceremony was conducted at SSI Schaefer’s Malaysia factory located at Simpang Renggam, Johor on 20th. November 2009, where two aspiring undergraduates received funding of RM 8,000.00 each per academic year.
The Scholarship was presented by Mr. Brian Miles, Managing Director of SSI Schaefer Asia Pacific/Middle East operations. The ceremony was also witnessed by local dignitaries, among them The Honourable Member of Parliament, Simpang Renggam, Mr. Liang Teck Meng.
“SSI Schaefer is pleased to award the scholarships for the second year in row, to assist the development of local talents. This is line with our objective to develop the Design & Engineering team to take on more R&D capabilities,” remarked Mr. Brian Miles.
Mr. Liang applauded SSI Schaefer for giving out the scholarships and also noted that Schaefer being one of the largest employers in Simpang Renggam has provided employment to many local residents. He expressed hope that this awards will continue in the future.
The SSI Schaefer scholarship award was started in 2008 by Schaefer Systems International Sdn. Bhd., the first manufacturing plant SSI Schaefer established in the Asian region. So far there are 4 undergraduates under this scholarship program.
